"I’ve always had a soft spot for cafés with a vintage or nostalgic vibe, and Yia Coffee Company fits that perfectly — it truly feels like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

The moment I step inside, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a touch of old-school charm that makes you want to linger a little longer.

We ordered flat white, and it was outstanding — aromatic, bold, and full-bodied, the kind of coffee that instantly wakes up your senses. I also purchased some pre-packed drip coffee bags, and the barista took the time to recommend a medium roast with lower acidity. That thoughtful suggestion made all the difference; the result was one of the most aromatic and flavorful black coffees I’ve ever tasted, smooth yet rich, with a balance that lingered beautifully.

The only downside was the lack of bites to accompany the drinks — apart from a simple cookie, there were no other options. A selection of cakes or pastries would have been a perfect complement to the outstanding coffee.

If you’re in search of great coffee paired with a nostalgic café atmosphere, Yia Coffee Company is a must-visit."

"Yia Coffee Company is the best café in Kuching. The coffee, especially the espresso, is of an astonishingly high quality that rivals Italian coffee culture, the absolute benchmark for me.

Located right in the heart of Chinatown, it feels like sitting in a green oasis of peace and relaxation. The owner and his team are extremely knowledgeable about coffee and are extremely friendly and approachable – customer satisfaction is clearly their top priority. A trip to Kuching is worth it for this espresso and a visit to this café alone!"

"A cosy, slightly hidden coffee haunt.

I have to say this place has the most Liberica blends I’ve found anywhere. I’m not a fan myself — it’s slightly bitter. Sarawak has a few Liberica plantations, hence the preference to source locally, which I thought was admirable.

You can ask for a specific blend when you order, so I went for the Sarawak Espresso blend, which uses 5 (!) bean types. It’s strong, with that familiar Liberica bitterness. Some people will love it. Just not me.

Unpretentious space, laid-back people, laid-back vibes. Spend an hour here doomscrolling next time you’re in Kuching."

"What a pleasant surprise to stumble upon Sarawak coffee here. Wanted to try the espresso, avocado milk shake but somehow their avocado is not available. So I've tried the espresso banana milk shake instead, not too bad as I was really hoping to try the avocado version.

A few nice seating area with lots of plants. It's lovely!"

"The ambiance of this Cafe is impeccable! simply unlike any other shops in Kuching.
The unique blend of coffee beans are undoubtedly the best representation of coffee pefection. If you want to experience a truely authentic taste of the best local coffee... this is the place. I'd highly recommend anyone who is looking for a place with great coffee made with fresh beans."
