"Excellent live band with great choice of music ie oldies, pop, reggae and R&B.

A good selection of cocktails, wines and beers from various countries.

Assam boi mojito was a killer! Both Caipirinha and Lime Daiquiri were deliciously prepared.

The bar was packed on Friday and a reservation is recommended."

"The Canteen is amazing. There’s every day live music and a good atmosphere.
The waiters are pretty busy, when it‘s more than full during peak hours. Therefor it tool me a lot of time to order. They have different kind of beer but they are pretty pricy."

"Fantastic bar with an ecclectic selection of art everywhere. High calibre live music, I was lucky to catch Raggy Singh doing a solo performance, every song was superb, Classic but lesser known songs he covered, often with his own arrangements, plus some excellent originals. Highly recommended."

"One of the coolest bars I’ve been to in Penang! Amazing venue for authentic live music experience with an excellent selection of cakes and generous cocktails (although on the pricier side).

Though the highlight of my night definitely came from the talented band @revolutionbandmy; they performed awesome covers and had an exceptional stage presence. Revolution really knows how to work the crowd! The singers had amazing voices, and the guitarist really put on a show. Very gifted and talented people, they absolutely made my night!

If you’re ever in the area, do drop by The Canteen at Chinahouse! I’m sure you won’t regret it."

"We came here for an impromptu visit on our trip in Penang, saw there was live music and thought we’d go and see what it was like.

From the minute we entered we knew we’d come to the right place.

The band Revolution were on… little did we know this was about to be an expensive and unforgettable night.

Not only was Aya an excellent vocalist, Rico did an excellent job on the drums that night & Ravi the comedian/guitarist (I don’t know which he is better at - the six strings or making us laugh)…

The night was so good we ended up missing our flight at 6AM…

They encourage the crowd to get involved, happy to take requests and are genuinely some of the best people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting on our travels..

Next time you’re in Penang, make sure you find out where they are playing - because it was a night we can’t remember with people we’ll never forget 😎
